1990's Grunge Music

$4.00

Students learn about the bands Nirvana, Garbage, Sonic Youth, and Smashing Pumpkins, and what it was like to be "alternative" in the 1990s. Fashion was a big part of the genre, so the activity is to design patterns for clothing including camouflage, plaid, and tiny florals. It's about ripped jeans, army boots, flannel, and making your own Tshirts.

BUT, then it became popular but not because bands wanted it to be that way. They didn't try to become rich and famous. It was all about self-expression and experimenting and doing what was NOT popular. So, everyone else wanted to do it.
