R-E-S-P-E-C-T, Find out what it means to me...

Aretha grew up singing gospel songs in church with her mom and dad. Her voice was very strong and soulful, even when she was a little girl. Her dad was a preacher in church so they would perform together. She wanted to sing gospel mixed with rhythm and blues music, creating what's called SOUL music. As she continued to play and record her music over many years, she became known as the Queen of Soul.

After this lesson, students will definitely know how to spell respect.
