Soul Train Lesson Plan

$6.00

In 1971, a television show called Soul Train was created to celebrate Black fashion, dance, music, and self-expression. At the time, almost all television shows had only white actors, musicians, and performers; this new show was a way to bring more equality to TV.

In this lesson, we will hear the story of how the show's host, Don Cornelius, got started and what the show was all about. Then we will create a dance floor with fashionable dancers using a pipe cleaner figure to trace in different dance poses, and finally add colorful 1970s clothing, hair styles, and wild fashions.
