We went back in time to 1969, Woodstock, NY. There was a massive concert, featuring lots of musicians who sang songs about fairness, love, and peace. Hundreds of thousands of hippies showed up (those are people who wear clothes with holes and grow their hair out) and celebrated with one another on a large farm.

Many of my students have done tie dye before, so it was fun to create pretend tie dye, using coffee filters and water-based markers. When you scribble-scrabble onto a coffee filter and spray it with a mist of water, some cool things start to happen.

After the filters dried, we cut them out and glued them onto our hippie drawing. It's a perfect fit!
